I have come to realize that part of accepting new beginnings is realizing the past was then, this is now, and what comes next is yet to be seen. There is always some nervousness about new starts, new events, and new people coming into our lives but there is also an excitement about what amazing opportunities could arise from this new change! It doesn't mean that we have to forget the past, or the people or places but instead it is starting a new chapter and if you turn the page with a positive attitude it will make a world of difference as to how you adapt to the new happenings in your life.
In April I shared about saying good bye to our sweet Sydney our wheaten terrier and so today I moved forward and met a new breeder. A new four legged fur baby may be entering our home in the beginning of September if all goes well. I am excited, a little nervous and yet I love new starts if they are are well thought out and planned for in advance. Risks and last minute planning are not my style. Some people love last minute adventures and chance meetings..... not me. I heard a great preacher Andy Stanley share this quote the other day " The present becomes the past, but the past is always carried into your future". So although we may think "that is in the past" it will show it's face in your future at some time, probably when you least expect it. In other words what you do in the present will always shape your future.... even though it becomes part of your past. Did I totally confuse you? It makes us more mindful of each day, what we are doing now, what we are saying, thinking and creating. New beginnings are good but they are not stand alone events. They are shaped by the present and the past.
It might be a good idea to examine what is shaping and influencing your life today because ultimately it will shape your past and your future.
