Yesterday we celebrated our eldest daughter's birthday with dining out and then seeing the movie "The Help". This was the tag line on the movie poster " Change begins with a whisper". I truly believe it does.... and uniquely when the whisper comes from a Voice that speaks into your soul. Whom do you listen to that speaks in a whisper to your soul? Do you listen? Or do you just brush it aside as a notion or a thought that was birthed from non- connecting thoughts? I have learned to listen to the whispers or nudges as I have called them over the years. When the whisper continues to repeat itself, it is time to listen. When you are transitioning through life there are always behind the scenes conversations taking place. Perhaps they start as a whisper and then the conversationi begins that can then start to impact your life. People are talking in rooms and in organizations about you that you are not even aware of and then the Voice that I listen to the most speaks into those lives and things start to change. I do believe in how God uses the whispers to change lives, I am evidence of that! No one can deny His presence in my life's journey. Without Him I would not be here today, in this role, in this stage of life. His whispers were the Voice that spoke the loudest when I was the quietest. I know that transitions in life happen all the time. Relationships end, illness happens, jobs change and children leave the nest... during those times you need to be attuned to the whispers of the One who cares the most about you. You are not forgotten, or unloved, or under valued in His eyes. You are unique, you are priceless, you are worthy and He only wants the best that life can give to you. So I would encourage you to start listening to the whispers because that is how change starts. Listening to the whispers which are God given, is an act of obedience. Listen, act, follow through and stop making excuses for being stuck because it all begins with a whisper.
Many times in non- profit or church organizations there is incredible passion for the vision but the infrastructure is not in place to support the vision. I have seen pastors with amazing strengths, abilities and devotion as Christ Followers suddenly find themselves overwhelmed, discouraged and at the place of walking away from their calling. So what happened? What was missing that allowed this to happen? The world looking in sees confusion, distrust and disillusionment with the church's mission and execution.
Most church boards consist of men and women with full time jobs that have taken on their role of leadership as a way to perhaps voice their viewpoints and give direction to the church. But in most cases, I have seen this become too much for their personal schedules and they walk away discouraged due to feeling unheard, undervalued and perhaps frustrated at the lack of decision making and follow through of the leadership team.
Many times while sitting around a board table I have sat back and watched the dynamics of the team, and come away thinking this is going no where fast! When do we get to the point of realization that we need the resources of those who do it well? Those with expertise which have systems and strategic plans to come alongside those who are called to make disciples not necessarily equiped to creaet a business model that will develop an infrastructure to support a church. This past year I have a new personal awareness that there are a lot of things I could be doing BUT what should I be doing that will make the greatest impact for the Kingdom and maximize my God given strengths for His glory.
I am incredibly excited to work with www.ministryadvantage.org as their first female coach to come alongside pastors and help them make their vision a reality. Empowering others for Kingdom work is my passion and when you combine practical tools with the power of the Holy Spirit, lives will be changed, churches will be changed and new Christ Followers will be welcomed. When you partner and come alongside with those who are called to the same purpose, things happen, decisions can be made and direction can be finalized.
I have seen some very close pastor friends struggle, it was heartbreaking and I am praying that wth the help of Minsitry Advantage I will now be able to give the support that is so desperately needed to those who are created for a divine purpose. Check out their website, watch the video, and I am sure you can relate to the words of those shared. Time to connect.... throwing you a life preserver... grab on!
