You see the way we respond to situations in life, is totally our choice. You choose the negative or positive response. That doesn't mean you don't need to process the ugly parts in life but you cannot stay there and expect to heal or move forward unless you leave the past in the past.
As parents our role is to raise our children to the best of our God given ability, to nurture them and love them regardless of their choices but when they leave your home they are no longer our responsibility to carry. We do not need to carry the unwise choices of their youth but instead carry them in prayer and release them to the Father.
When churches navigate through difficult times, we may never understand what or why things happen. It does not matter that we do not understand or know all the facts but instead rest in the comfort of knowing that the church belongs to our Father once again, and it is not healthy nor wise to carry disgruntled feelings that will only cause division and unrest. The past is the past, and we leave it in His hands, He is the Prince of Peace, the Almighty King, the Great Physician that can heal all deep wounds, hurts and disagreements. What a great comfort knowing that when we " let it go" that we no longer have to carry any of that weight on our shoulders.
I know as women we have a tendency to rehash every detail many times over, for whatever reason we think by telling the story a million times that we will come to a wise conclusion. Definitely not a healthy or wise idea! Men can let it go much faster and move on. We need to be thankful for the wise men in our life that can show us a fresh perspective. Too many times we muddle emotion into the perspective and respond accordingly. Perspective keeps it real!
Perhaps today you need to think about one area of your life you need to release and leave in the past. Forgive and move forward. Stop trying to fix it and resolve it and understand it. Lean not on your own understanding! We are slow learners in this area and to me it is the one of the greatest gifts of being a Christ Follower. I can release every area of my life to Him, I do not need to control my relationships, my health, my place of worship. It is all for Him to orchestrate and I will be a willing participant to partner with Him in the process. So let it go today! Stop re-hashing the past and be excited about the future. Live in the moment - He has given you all the tools you need to live triumphantly.
