At one of the events, one client inquired as to what I do for a living. I shared about life coaching and she was quite inquisitve as she said " I am dying, I am living in the moment and I have nothing to lose by hearing your recommendations". The silence drifted over the room and I was speechless. I asked her what "living in the moment" looked like for her. She said it was completing her bucket list : a trip to Cuba, buying new patio furniture ,bedroom furniture, the car she always wanted and sharing with others how the cancer support centre gave her courage for the journey. Incredibly candid with her comments and yet so forthright in what she wanted to do.
I went away wondering how I would answer that question if someone told me I had "x" amount of months to live. How would I live in the moment? Do I embrace each day knowing that one phone call, one test result can change your life forever or the life of someone you love? When I named my coaching company I settled on the name Intentional Life Coaching because I think too many of us do not live life intentionally. We would rather drift along waiting for life to happen or broadside us with the uncertainties. When I live in the moment I want to remember that each conversation, each encounter with those I meet brings value to that person's life and perhaps in turn to my own. I play to an Audience of One, I believe in the Almighty God and I do know that no one loves you more than He does. He wants you to live a life of purpose with intentionality and passion. Perhaps tomorrow you can start thinking about living in the moment but this time with an intention of doing it with purpose and with the mantra " what can I change today that will have an impact on what I do tomorrow". Hope your Monday is a good one!
