In today's economy this scenario has become the new reality. Top executives are now shopping in the stores they never dreamed they would be seen in. They are no longer living in homes which have gone to foreclosure. and the 6 or 7 digit income is now obsolete and there is no next step. If that happens to you what would your legacy look like?
My hope is that one day people would know me for who I am, not what I possess or aim to be in life. I would hope that I have made a positive impact on the lives of others and invested the time and energy in the hearts and souls of those around me. When we are centred around a divine purpose and give control of all our assets and provisions to the Almighty God it makes the acquiring of things and titles not as applicable as an end goal.
It isn't that the accumulation of wealth or prosperity is wrong, but it is when those things become the driving force in shaping our lives that it turns our worlds into a very lonely and selfish lifestyle.
Will people know you for your beliefs, your integrity, your morals or do they have any idea about those attributes? I look at my children, now grown women and they are a wonderful legacy as I see how they have successful careers, centred in their faith and focused on who they are and yet excited to see what the future holds. So perhaps look at your lifestyle, examine what motivates you to get out of bed every day. If tomorrow you did not wake up, what would the neighbour next door say about you, or the barista at Starbucks or the person in the next cubicle?
Remember everyone is replaceable. who you are today shapes who you are tomorrow.
Make a lasting impression for those you meet today, compliment someone, encourage someone, pick up the phone... don't text - just ask how they are doing and tell them that you were thinking about that person today.
Think about your legacy, what have you done for others today...don't leave until tomorrow what you can change today.
